Download the PocketPatient app After your appointment is scheduled, you will receive an email with instructions on how to download and sign in to the PocketPatient app. If you prefer to use your computer to attend your virtual eye exam, log in to the Patient Portal rather than downloading the PocketPatient app.

Await a call from an ophthalmic technician One of our ophthalmic technicians will call you within 30 minutes of your appointment time to review the reason for your virtual eye exam and update any changes in your medical history. He or she will also make sure that you were able to successfully access your portal and offer assistance if needed.
Join the video visit Once the doctor is ready to join the virtual eye exam, you will receive an email and a push notification via the PocketPatient app to join the video call. You will have 10 minutes to log in to the PocketPatient app or patient portal and click “Join Video Visit”

Medicare and most commercial medical insurance covers telemedicine. A member of our billing department will confirm with your specific insurance plan and will notify you if your insurance does not provide coverage prior to your visit.
Vision insurance does not currently cover telemedicine.
No. The PocketPatient app is free to download and use.
